Barceló Santiago Reviews

2007  Barcelo Santiago
Having just returned from a 10 night stay a return trip is already in the planning. This is a very good hotel set in a fantastic position. A sea view room gives you fabulous views over the spectacular cliffs of Los Gigantes or sunset over La Gomera, as does the superb pool area. Food is varied and good quality with a good sized internal dining area and outside terrace. Staff are extremely friendly and efficient, hotel is well presented at all times. Poolside entertainment is good but unobtrusive for those who just want to relax by the pool, but despite the hard work of the animation team, the only real negative here is evening entertainment which is poor compared to how it used to be for those who may have visited in the 90's. Never fear, don't bother going all inclusive (drinks / snacks are no dearer than local bars) as less than 30 metres away you will find Bar Route 66 for live music every night. Don't miss the excellent Old Dogs-New Tricks every Mon, Wed, Fri, for great music, the odd risqué comment and some friendly banter. 3 hours of great entertainment from 9 to midnight.
Also visit the superb black sand beach at Playa de la Arena, the sea pool on crab island & nearby Los Gigantes town.

It was around our 10th visit! The hotel has probably the ultimate sea view which, when combined with 7 days of perfect weather, is a recipe for bliss. We recommend that you don't go 'all inclusive' because you end up 'tied to the Mother ship'.
There is a fantastic authentic Tenerife restaurant nearby in Puerto Santiago called 'Casa Pedro' where 2 courses of very fresh sea food and a bottle of Tenerife wine will set you back just £30 for two.
The hotel staff are friendly and helpful - if you are. The food is healthy and wholesome but half board is enough.
The entertainment was OK and the opportunity to play 5 a side soccer at the age of 57 was very welcome!
An 11th trip is already planned because despite enjoying many other places in between the total R and R which is Barcelo Santiago is impossible to beat.
The only downside is you need to close your eyes between the Airport and Los Gigantes because the lemming like rush to build ever more ugly and unwanted apartments is completely out of control.

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas and New Year, this being our third time, it was as good if not better than the previous ones. As said previously a few teething problems following the refurbishment but nothing major that isn't due to be rectified. Gala dinner amazing, needs to be publicised more that it is jacket and tie for gents and dresses for ladies as not all guests did. Staff and service were excellent, food wonderful and the cleanliness is spot on. Many guest like us were on return visits and those who weren't were talking of returning. Well recommended!

We have just returned after a week of superb weather in Los Gigantes. We found the hotel very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful . The rooms were spotless and a full length mirror is now standard. We were on half board - breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice, i.e. cereals, cold meats, hot choices and even Cava! Dinners offered a wide choice but it is not fine dining.

We were there over my husband's birthday and without ever being notified the hotel provided a free birthday cake and Cava in our room purely because they spotted it was his birthday from his passport on check in.

The hotel was also in a good location
